Muskegon River

The Muskegon river near Newaygo, MI is running below average flows for this time of year after a significant reduction in water flow through Croton dam on Tuesday.

With the arctic blast that’s settled over the Midwest the last few days, water temperatures will be the coldest the fish have seen all winter up to this point.  That said, they DO have to eat and can be caught, it’s just not a good idea to try fishing in such brutally cold weather.

I will be out next week and have additional details on up to date fishing conditions.

In short, small and slow is the theme……small flies and slower water.

Present water temperature in the 34-35 degree range.
