Muskegon River Fishing Report – June 12, 2016

early summer panfish

Can you say BIG ‘OL panfish on light fly rods !!

The Muskegon river near Newaygo, MI is running around average flows for this time of June and showing sings of coming into “summer ” conditions.

With over a week+ of cooler than normal weather, river temperatures dropped slightly and leveled off in the 62-63 degree range for several days.

With the warmer weather that has returned, temps have begun to rise and this will be great for our mid June Smallmouth fishing.

Fishing for resident trout is still good when certain hatches provide dry fly opportunities.  Mid day hatches of Caddis will find some trout looking up, as well as later afternoon/early evening Sulphurs and Gray Drakes.

Present water temperature in the 66-67 degree range.
