- A very colored up Muskegon river male Steelhead, from pre-arctic outing the other day !!
The Muskegon river is one of the most diverse fisheries in the Midwest, with a combination of cold and warm water species of fish that can be fished to year round.
The resident population of Rainbow and Brown trout provide some of the best fly fishing one can find in our great state of Michigan. The migratory fish that come into the river throughout the year make up the bulk of our Great Lakes Big Game Fishing, and are sought after by anglers from across the globe who come to fish for them.
The migratory fish that come out of both Muskegon lake and lake Michigan, include Chinook Salmon, Steelhead and lake run Brown trout in the fall and early winter. Walleye, Steelhead, Sturgeon and Gar Pike arrive in the spring, along with Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike in the summer.
Pursued with both fly fishing and light spin tackle equipment, we pursue most of these fish from the comfort of a custom made, 18′ jet sled, however some wade fishing can be done in the summer trout season.
